Geelong's Avalon Airport

Avalon Airport (IATA: AVV, ICAO: YMAV) is a domestic and international airport located in Avalon, within the City of Greater Geelong, Victoria, Australia. It is the second busiest airport serving Melbourne in terms of passenger traffic and is strategically positioned 15 km northeast of Geelong CBD and 50 km southwest of Melbourne CBD. The airport is operated by Avalon Airport Australia Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Linfox, and serves as a hub for Jetstar Airways. It also hosts the biennial Australian International Airshow and has facilities for both passenger and freight operations.

History: Established in 1953 as a military airfield, Avalon transitioned into a commercial airport in 2004. It has played significant roles in aviation history, including aircraft testing, pilot training, and hosting major airshows.
