GPT EHang Receives Production Certificate for EH216-S eVTOL from CAAC, Enabling mass production
Write a comment Guangzhou, China, April 7, 2024 -- EHang Holdings Limited (Nasdaq: EH), a leader in the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) technology platform sector, today declared it has secured the Production Certificate (PC) for its EH216-S, a pilotless electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This certificate, issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), is the first of its kind in the eVTOL global industry. This follows EHang's earlier achievements of receiving both the Type Certificate (TC) and the Standard Airworthiness Certificate (AC), marking another step towards mass production and commercial operations of the eVTOL aircraft.
The certificate presentation took place at the International Conference Center in Huangpu District, Guangzhou, attended by notable figures including Mr. Yinsong Xian, District Mayor of Huangpu; Mr. Wei Wang, Deputy Mayor of Yunfu City; Mr. Heyong Lin, Director of the Airworthiness Division of the Central-South Regional Administration of the CAAC; and Mr. Huazhi Hu, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of EHang, among others.
The Production Certificate confirms that EHang has established a quality management system for mass production that meets the airworthiness standards set by the CAAC. This system includes various components such as raw materials, supplier management, production organization, quality control, pre-delivery testing, and after-sales services. It ensures that each component and the entire aircraft meet safety and design standards.
During the certification process, the CAAC's review team performed a detailed assessment of EHang's production capabilities and quality management system through document reviews and on-site inspections. They evaluated multiple facets such as organizational management, design document control, staff qualifications, production process, and testing.
Mr. Heyong Lin highlighted EHang's significant airworthiness certification achievements over the past six months, which include receiving the world’s first TC, PC, and standard AC for the UAV. Mr. Huazhi Hu noted that the issuance of the PC is a critical milestone, enabling mass production and setting the stage for commercial operations. He expressed gratitude towards the CAAC and the commitment of the EHang team. Mrs. Dan Xu, Deputy District Mayor of Huangpu, praised the milestone as a significant step towards the commercialization of the low-altitude economy.
