VoltAero begins certification tests for hybrid-electric Cassio hybrid electric aircraft.

April - 26 - 2024: Voltaero has initiated certification tests for its hybrid-electric Cassio 330 aircraft, marking a significant development in hybrid aviation. The aircraft features a powertrain combining a Safran electric motor and a Kawasaki thermal engine, offering a total power output of 330kW. This system utilizes the internal combustion engine as a range extender and a backup in case of electric propulsion issues.

The Cassio 330 is being produced at a new facility in Rochefort, France, and is designed for various uses, including regional commercial operations, air taxi services, and utility roles like medevac. Following the Cassio 330, Voltaero plans to expand its lineup with the six-seat Cassio 480 and the larger Cassio 600, which seats 10 to 12 passengers.

These aircraft are part of Voltaero's broader strategy to introduce a new generation of electric-hybrid aircraft, combining innovative powertrain technology with efficient airframe designs to meet the demands of modern aviation.
