Lilium and UrbanLink Forge Path for eVTOL passenger service in South Florida

MIAMI, FLORIDA, May 6, 2024 – Today, a new era dawns in the skies of South Florida. Lilium N.V. (NASDAQ: LILM), a pioneer of all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) jets, has just forged a groundbreaking alliance with UrbanLink, a leading name in advanced air mobility (AAM). This partnership will see the integration of 20 state-of-the-art Lilium Jets into UrbanLink’s fleet, establishing UrbanLInk as the first U.S. airline to fully embrace eVTOL technology.

UrbanLink, under the seasoned guidance of the widely respected airline veteran Ed Wegel, is charting a new course in the aviation industry. With an impressive track record of raising over $1 billion for various aviation projects and spearheading multiple FAA certifications, Wegel is a pioneer in advancing air travel. With his leadership, UrbanLink is set to redefine urban mobility, focusing on efficient, sustainable air travel within and between city centers.

In his own words, Wegel expressed his commitment to pushing the boundaries of conventional aviation. “While the chatter about eVTOL potential has been around, no one has made a concrete move. We at UrbanLink are changing that narrative. After meticulous assessments, the Lilium Jet emerged as the best fit for our ambitious goals, offering unmatched efficiency and performance.”

The collaboration between Lilium and UrbanLink will turbocharge the eVTOL deployment across South Florida. UrbanLink plans to utilize an expanding network of vertiports, a project that Lilium and its associates have been developing for the past five years.

The initiative envisions a future where eVTOLs are a cornerstone of regional connectivity, linking key South Florida locales like Miami, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale and reaching as far as Marco Island. The anticipated launch of these services in 2026 promises to revolutionize how we perceive and undertake regional travel.

Lilium’s Chief Commercial Officer, Sebastien Borel, shared his enthusiasm about this partnership: “We are thrilled to welcome UrbanLink into our fold. Their decision to adopt the Lilium Jet is not just a win for both entities but a significant indicator of the maturing eVTOL market. Ed’s vision and operational acumen are needed to drive regional air mobility forward.”

Following the initiation of the Lilium Jet’s assembly last year, enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the first piloted test flight towards the end of 2024. This venture is more than a business agreement; it’s a pioneering stride towards a more connected and sustainable future in air travel.
