2024 Global Symposium on Mobility Innovation
The 2024 Global Symposium on Mobility Innovation, hosted by Mcity and the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI), is set for May 21st and 22nd. This event, marking its seventh annual occurrence, will be held at the Morris Lawrence Building at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Attendees can participate in person or virtually, making the symposium accessible to a broad audience interested in mobility innovations.
The symposium will focus on a range of topics pertinent to mobility innovation and is designed as a two-day, two-track conference. It offers a unique blend of academic insight, industry updates, and networking opportunities, featuring a lineup of speakers from diverse sectors in mobility innovation. Confirmed speakers include professionals and academics from institutions and companies such as the Federal Highway Administration, Central State University, Purdue University, Corporation for Automated Road Transportation Safety, Cruise, Toyota Boshoku America, May Mobility, The Harkin Institute, University of Minnesota, and many more, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of the event.
Participants can look forward to a rich program that includes keynotes, panel discussions, and research presentations covering various aspects of mobility innovation. Notably, topics for panel discussions and research presentations will encompass a wide range of subjects, ensuring attendees gain insights into the latest trends, challenges, and advancements in the field. For instance, one of the research presentations will focus on "Hardening the CAV Ecosystem to Reduce Cybersecurity Risks," featuring speakers from Purdue University, the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, addressing crucial aspects of cybersecurity in connected and autonomous vehicles.
Moreover, the symposium encourages academic participation through its annual Student Poster Competition, inviting undergraduate and graduate students from U.S.-based institutions to showcase their work. This competition fosters academic engagement and provides a platform for young researchers to contribute to the discourse on mobility innovation.
For those planning to attend in person, the event has arranged hotel blocks in Ann Arbor, offering attendees discounted rates at several hotels. These arrangements ensure a comfortable and convenient stay for participants from out of town.
Registration is open, and early bird and student rates are available. Participants will have access to all sessions, meals, and additional activities, such as tours of the Advanced Transportation Center and live research demonstrations. Virtual participation is also offered, providing online access to panel and research tracks and lifetime access to conference recordings.
